STORY:
This delicately textured and woven basket is made by groups of artisan women in intimate communities across Uganda.
Raffia is harvested by extracting liquid from the raffia palm tree. At first, raffia is green but it is then stripped and dried by the brilliant rays of Uganda sunshine and turns a beige color. Once fully dried, the artisans carefully dye the dried strands after which the weavers then take the materials to their homes where they weave these beautiful home decor products. This one of a kind piece takes a day to complete and is made in an ethical, fair trade environment.
This basket is not just beautiful wall art but also a functional home decoration. Style it on a shelf or use it for additional storage in your home office, add it to your coffee table for a globally inspired feel, or use it as a serving bowl for your favorite fruit.
