Our Andrea Pillow is handwoven by a group of Mayan weavers in the remote mountains of Chiapas, Mexico. The intricate designs are woven on a wooden pedal loom using cotton that is coloured from plant based dyes. This design is distinct of this region of Southern Mexico and the weaving techniques have been passed down from generation to generation.
This women's weaving cooperative works to provide access to international markets and to diversify artisanal techniques for the local artisan communities. These women work from home and are able to provide for their families through their weaving.
