STORY:
Handcrafted by weavers of San Juan La Laguna in Lake Atitlan Guatemala, this timeless and minimal design will add a cozy touch to your living spaces. Use it as a blanket, a bed spread or a throw on chilly nights.
Locally collected cotton is hand-spun and woven on a backstrap loom without machine or chemicals. Each stage of making this blanket was carried out with care and pride in the Mayan weaving culture. Special details can be seen in the embroidered lines called “randa”, a hand-stitch connecting the three panels that measure the width of the weaver’s waist, which the backstrap loom was wrapped around.
By purchasing this blanket you are helping to support these female weavers by providing them with economic empowerment.
